We thought we'd done everything needed for a beta launch, we spent weeks researching, months developing and went through, what seemed like a countless number of design revisions.
But what did we manage to forget? Errm.. the RSS Feed! What a plonker I am! I was flabbergasted when someone raised the point in a blog post, its not that we hadn't planned it, we I just managed to forget!
So, we would suggest that you subscribe to the feed to keep up to date -- I mean, come on, what more could you possibly want than to have the the most popular and up-to-date resources hand-delivered straight to your feed reader? Crazy stuff.
You will also find that there is a subscribe note at the top of every page, mind you, that area is subject to constant change as its where all of our uber-important messages go.
So, its pretty much been 24 hours since we launched and so far things have gone pretty smoothly, no crashes, no explosions, just an extraordinary 1300% increase in traffic which is crazy!
We've been working behind the scenes all day fixing some things, improving some things and finishing off some advertising deals, you will now see our wonderful ad on: LogoPond, MintPages, Most Inspired, CoolSiteCollection, Light on Dark and TagsPage. If your interested in talking about advertising arrangements with us then drop me, , an email.
If you've written, or fancy writing a blog post about us on your own blog, then please do tell us, we plan on building a "love <3" section of the blog to showcase the people that, well, love us! So you can guarantee you will be seeing lots more of us over the next few months years, at least!
As we are a new site and we are currently still in BETA, or testing the water as I like to call it, we are expecting some minor bugs, hopefully nothing to major. Possibly the odd styling error but if you could inform us then that would be great. You can email us directly at support (at) uberlook.com or just leave a comment on this thread.
All of your feedback is HUGELY appreciated.
So, after 4 months of development, countless late nights and enough thought power to move a small country, Uberlook is finally out in the open awaiting your resources, and its hungry! We have, as we say, been working on the site for around 4 months, possibly even 5, making sure it works, fighting bugs in both IE and Safari and naturally, checking out the competition.
We have built this application with a few things in mind:
1) We want your experience on our site to be wonderful and enjoyable, so you to enjoy using the site - not just so you keep coming back - but so finding resources isn't the hassle it usually is.
2) That all of our resources are useful, that they actually teach/help/assist in doing something.
3) That (hopefully) you will love us. Thats our plan, ideally we would become the #1 search for Web Design & Development tools in all of the universe and store nothing but quality resources, enough in fact, to keep you up browsing for the rest of your human life!
We'd also like to take this moment to tell you that the development on Uberlook is, in no way, finished. We're not going to 'kick back' for the next few months watching you submit resources and browsing others. We have lots of plans. For instance:
1) We are currently developing a Browser button. Those of you that have used the wonderful service that is del.icio.us will know exactly what we're talking about, something that you can click, be taken to a submission form and be back all in <15 seconds.
2) An RSS 'thingy', we're not exactly sure what we're going to call it, but we're 100% certain of what its going to do! During our Internet travels, or yours, we/you may come across a truly fantastic website dedicated to writing quality web design and/or web development articles, so, what do we do? We submit the RSS feed into our ever-hungry system and each time they post something new, its automagically published onto Uberlook, awaiting your visit.
3) Our biggest plan is to finish the blog, there are plenty of things we know about and you would have certainly noticed that we yet to do or are sitting there unfinished. This is simply because we were itching to get the site live and couldn't wait any longer! We're also going to post a few screencasts to help you learn how to use the site better and get the most out of it.
So - we'd like to thank you for visiting and taking the time to read, if you have any questions or comments please do use the form below and do submit your resources, a growing library of resources will only help us all!
The crucial factor behind Uberlook is our accurate search feature, and in order for this to continue to work every resource we store must be accurately entered in our database in order for it to be found accurately. Therefore we ask that each resource submitted is correctly tagged using relevant keywords and filed away into the correct filetype.
To add a file simply click the link shown below 'Add Resource +'.

You will then be shown a form where you will be required to fill ALL pieces of information. The form fields are:
Name: This is where you should put YOUR name, this is used strictly for internal statistical purposes only.
Email: This is where you should put YOUR email, again, this is used strictly for internal statistical purposes only. This is also where you will receive your Approval/Disapproval email.
Title: This is for the Title of the resource, for instance, if you were submitted Uberlook then the title would be Uberlook. Simple.
URL: This is one of the aspects our users find confusing, if submitting a file e.g. PSD, DOC, EXE please DO NOT link directly to the file, please link to the page the file is situated on. Obviously if you are submitting a service, gallery or a community then this will not be a problem for you.
Type: When submitting a resource you are required to assign it to a file type. This is where users are able to determine which files they see in the 'Advanced' section, so it is crucial you select the correct filetype. If you are however unsure which to place your resource in then you should select 'Other', if, when we are reviewing the resource, we decide to create an additional filetype then we will do so.
Description: Describe the resource, if submitting Uberlook you would use for example: Uberlook is a great new resource search engine for web designers & developers that allows you to search only the best most useful resources. Try and keep it simple and concise.
Tags: When adding a resource please ensure you tag it correctly using relevant keywords. For instance if adding a free truetype font that has a grungey 1980's feel, you would tag it using keywords such as font, free, truetype, grunge, retro, 80's.
If all users follow these submission guidelines we are ensuring that all resources can be accurately pinpointed when searching. Which is ultimately what we're here for!
